히1:1~14

1:1 옛적에 선지자들을 통하여 여러 부분과 여러 모양으로 우리 조상들에게 말씀하신 하나님이  

1:2 이 모든 날 마지막에는 아들을 통하여 우리에게 말씀하셨으니 이 아들을 만유의 상속자로 세우시고 또 그로 말미암아 모든 세계를 지으셨느니라  

1:3 이는 하나님의 영광의 광채시요 그 본체의 형상이시라 그의 능력의 말씀으로 만물을 붙드시며 죄를 정결하게 하는 일을 하시고 높은 곳에 계신 지극히 크신 이의 우편에 앉으셨느니라  

1:4 그가 천사보다 훨씬 뛰어남은 그들보다 더욱 아름다운 이름을 기업으로 얻으심이니  

1:5 하나님께서 어느 때에 천사 중 누구에게 너는 내 아들이라 오늘 내가 너를 낳았다 하셨으며 또 다시 나는 그에게 아버지가 되고 그는 내게 아들이 되리라 하셨느냐  

1:6 또 그가 맏아들을 이끌어 세상에 다시 들어오게 하실 때에 하나님의 모든 천사들은 그에게 경배할지어다 말씀하시며  

1:7 또 천사들에 관하여는 그는 그의 천사들을 바람으로, 그의 사역자들을 불꽃으로 삼으시느니라 하셨으되  

1:8 아들에 관하여는 하나님이여 주의 보좌는 영영하며 주의 나라의 규는 공평한 규이니이다  

1:9 주께서 의를 사랑하시고 불법을 미워하셨으니 그러므로 하나님 곧 주의 하나님이 즐거움의 기름을 주께 부어 주를 동류들보다 뛰어나게 하셨도다 하였고  

1:10 또 주여 태초에 주께서 땅의 기초를 두셨으며 하늘도 주의 손으로 지으신 바라  

1:11 그것들은 멸망할 것이나 오직 주는 영존할 것이요 그것들은 다 옷과 같이 낡아지리니  

1:12 의복처럼 갈아입을 것이요 그것들은 옷과 같이 변할 것이나 주는 여전하여 연대가 다함이 없으리라 하였으나  

1:13 어느 때에 천사 중 누구에게 내가 네 원수로 네 발등상이 되게 하기까지 너는 내 우편에 앉아 있으라 하셨느냐  

1:14 모든 천사들은 섬기는 영으로서 구원 받을 상속자들을 위하여 섬기라고 보내심이 아니냐 

1:1 In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways,

1:2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.

1:3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

1:4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.

1:5 For to which of the angels did God ever say, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father"? Or again, "I will be his Father, and he will be my Son"?

1:6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him."

1:7 In speaking of the angels he says, "He makes his angels winds, his servants flames of fire."

1:8 But about the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.

1:9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy."

1:10 He also says, "In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.

1:11 They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment.

1:12 You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end."

1:13 To which of the angels did God ever say, "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet"?

1:14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

행24:10~27

10 총독이 바울에게 머리로 표시하여 말하라 하니 그가 대답하되 당신이 여러 해 전부터 이 민족의 재판장 된 것을 내가 알고 내 사건에 대하여 기꺼이 변명하나이다  

11 당신이 아실 수 있는 바와 같이 내가 예루살렘에 예배하러 올라간 지 열이틀밖에 안 되었고  

12 그들은 내가 성전에서 누구와 변론하는 것이나 회당 또는 시중에서 무리를 소동하게 하는 것을 보지 못하였으니  

13 이제 나를 고발하는 모든 일에 대하여 그들이 능히 당신 앞에 내세울 것이 없나이다  

14 그러나 이것을 당신께 고백하리이다 나는 그들이 이단이라 하는 도를 따라 조상의 하나님을 섬기고 율법과 선지자들의 글에 기록된 것을 다 믿으며  

15 그들이 기다리는 바 하나님께 향한 소망을 나도 가졌으니 곧 의인과 악인의 부활이 있으리라 함이니이다  

16 이것으로 말미암아 나도 하나님과 사람에 대하여 항상 양심에 거리낌이 없기를 힘쓰나이다  

17 여러 해 만에 내가 내 민족을 구제할 것과 제물을 가지고 와서  

18 드리는 중에 내가 결례를 행하였고 모임도 없고 소동도 없이 성전에 있는 것을 그들이 보았나이다 그러나 아시아로부터 온 어떤 유대인들이 있었으니  

19 그들이 만일 나를 반대할 사건이 있으면 마땅히 당신 앞에 와서 고발하였을 것이요  

20 그렇지 않으면 이 사람들이 내가 공회 앞에 섰을 때에 무슨 옳지 않은 것을 보았는가 말하라 하소서  

21 오직 내가 그들 가운데 서서 외치기를 내가 죽은 자의 부활에 대하여 오늘 너희 앞에 심문을 받는다고 한 이 한 소리만 있을 따름이니이다 하니  

22 벨릭스가 이 도에 관한 것을 더 자세히 아는 고로 연기하여 이르되 천부장 루시아가 내려오거든 너희 일을 처결하리라 하고  

23 백부장에게 명하여 바울을 지키되 자유를 주고 그의 친구들이 그를 돌보아 주는 것을 금하지 말라 하니라 

24 수일 후에 벨릭스가 그 아내 유대 여자 드루실라와 함께 와서 바울을 불러 그리스도 예수 믿는 도를 듣거늘  

25 바울이 의와 절제와 장차 오는 심판을 강론하니 벨릭스가 두려워하여 대답하되 지금은 가라 내가 틈이 있으면 너를 부르리라 하고  

26 동시에 또 바울에게서 돈을 받을까 바라는 고로 더 자주 불러 같이 이야기하더라  

27 이태가 지난 후 보르기오 베스도가 벨릭스의 소임을 이어받으니 벨릭스가 유대인의 마음을 얻고자 하여 바울을 구류하여 두니라 

10 When the governor motioned for him to speak, Paul replied: "I know that for a number of years you have been a judge over this nation; so I gladly make my defense.

11 You can easily verify that no more than twelve days ago I went up to Jerusalem to worship.

12 My accusers did not find me arguing with anyone at the temple, or stirring up a crowd in the synagogues or anywhere else in the city.

13 And they cannot prove to you the charges they are now making against me.

14 However, I admit that I worship the God of our fathers as a follower of the Way, which they call a sect. I believe everything that agrees with the Law and that is written in the Prophets,

15 and I have the same hope in God as these men, that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked.

16 So I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man.

17 "After an absence of several years, I came to Jerusalem to bring my people gifts for the poor and to present offerings.

18 I was ceremonially clean when they found me in the temple courts doing this. There was no crowd with me, nor was I involved in any disturbance.

19 But there are some Jews from the province of Asia, who ought to be here before you and bring charges if they have anything against me.

20 Or these who are here should state what crime they found in me when I stood before the Sanhedrin--

21 unless it was this one thing I shouted as I stood in their presence: 'It is concerning the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial before you today.'"

22 Then Felix, who was well acquainted with the Way, adjourned the proceedings. "When Lysias the commander comes," he said, "I will decide your case."

23 He ordered the centurion to keep Paul under guard but to give him some freedom and permit his friends to take care of his needs.

24 Several days later Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was a Jewess. He sent for Paul and listened to him as he spoke about faith in Christ Jesus.

25 As Paul discoursed on righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, "That's enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you."

26 At the same time he was hoping that Paul would offer him a bribe, so he sent for him frequently and talked with him.

27 When two years had passed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus, but because Felix wanted to grant a favor to the Jews, he left Paul in prison.

사41:8~20

8 그러나 나의 종 너 이스라엘아 내가 택한 야곱아 나의 벗 아브라함의 자손아  

9 내가 땅 끝에서부터 너를 붙들며 땅 모퉁이에서부터 너를 부르고 네게 이르기를 너는 나의 종이라 내가 너를 택하고 싫어하여 버리지 아니하였다 하였노라  

10 두려워하지 말라 내가 너와 함께 함이라 놀라지 말라 나는 네 하나님이 됨이라 내가 너를 굳세게 하리라 참으로 너를 도와 주리라 참으로 나의 의로운 오른손으로 너를 붙들리라  

11 보라 네게 노하던 자들이 수치와 욕을 당할 것이요 너와 다투는 자들이 아무것도 아닌 것 같이 될 것이며 멸망할 것이라  

12 네가 찾아도 너와 싸우던 자들을 만나지 못할 것이요 너를 치는 자들은 아무것도 아닌 것 같고 허무한 것 같이 되리니  

13 이는 나 여호와 너의 하나님이 네 오른손을 붙들고 네게 이르기를 두려워하지 말라 내가 너를 도우리라 할 것임이니라  

14 버러지 같은 너 야곱아, 너희 이스라엘 사람들아 두려워하지 말라 나 여호와가 말하노니 내가 너를 도울 것이라 네 구속자는 이스라엘의 거룩한 이이니라  

15 보라 내가 너를 이가 날카로운 새 타작기로 삼으리니 네가 산들을 쳐서 부스러기를 만들 것이며 작은 산들을 겨 같이 만들 것이라  

16 네가 그들을 까부른즉 바람이 그들을 날리겠고 회오리바람이 그들을 흩어 버릴 것이로되 너는 여호와로 말미암아 즐거워하겠고 이스라엘의 거룩한 이로 말미암아 자랑하리라  

17 가련하고 가난한 자가 물을 구하되 물이 없어서 갈증으로 그들의 혀가 마를 때에 나 여호와가 그들에게 응답하겠고 나 이스라엘의 하나님이 그들을 버리지 아니할 것이라  

18 내가 헐벗은 산에 강을 내며 골짜기 가운데에 샘이 나게 하며 광야가 못이 되게 하며 마른 땅이 샘 근원이 되게 할 것이며  

19 내가 광야에는 백향목과 싯딤 나무와 화석류와 들감람나무를 심고 사막에는 잣나무와 소나무와 황양목을 함께 두리니  

20 무리가 보고 여호와의 손이 지으신 바요 이스라엘의 거룩한 이가 이것을 창조하신 바인 줄 알며 함께 헤아리며 깨달으리라  

8 "But you, O Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend,

9 I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, 'You are my servant'; I have chosen you and have not rejected you.

10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

11 "All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish.

12 Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all.

13 For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

14 Do not be afraid, O worm Jacob, O little Israel, for I myself will help you," declares the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

15 "See, I will make you into a threshing sledge, new and sharp, with many teeth. You will thresh the mountains and crush them, and reduce the hills to chaff.

16 You will winnow them, the wind will pick them up, and a gale will blow them away. But you will rejoice in the LORD and glory in the Holy One of Israel.

17 "The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the LORD will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

18 I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs.

19 I will put in the desert the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive. I will set pines in the wasteland, the fir and the cypress together,

20 so that people may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the LORD has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.

왕하4:16~37

16 엘리사가 이르되 한 해가 지나 이 때쯤에 네가 아들을 안으리라 하니 여인이 이르되 아니로소이다 내 주 하나님의 사람이여 당신의 계집종을 속이지 마옵소서 하니라  

17 여인이 과연 잉태하여 한 해가 지나 이 때쯤에 엘리사가 여인에게 말한 대로 아들을 낳았더라  

18 그 아이가 자라매 하루는 추수꾼들에게 나가서 그의 아버지에게 이르렀더니  

19 그의 아버지에게 이르되 내 머리야 내 머리야 하는지라 그의 아버지가 사환에게 말하여 그의 어머니에게로 데려가라 하매  

20 곧 어머니에게로 데려갔더니 낮까지 어머니의 무릎에 앉아 있다가 죽은지라  

21 그의 어머니가 올라가서 아들을 하나님의 사람의 침상 위에 두고 문을 닫고 나와  

22 그 남편을 불러 이르되 청하건대 사환 한 명과 나귀 한 마리를 내게로 보내소서 내가 하나님의 사람에게 달려갔다가 돌아오리이다 하니  

23 그 남편이 이르되 초하루도 아니요 안식일도 아니거늘 그대가 오늘 어찌하여 그에게 나아가고자 하느냐 하는지라 여인이 이르되 평안을 비나이다 하니라  

24 이에 나귀에 안장을 지우고 자기 사환에게 이르되 몰고 가라 내가 말하지 아니하거든 나를 위하여 달려가기를 멈추지 말라 하고  

25 드디어 갈멜 산으로 가서 하나님의 사람에게로 나아가니라 하나님의 사람이 멀리서 그를 보고 자기 사환 게하시에게 이르되 저기 수넴 여인이 있도다  

26 너는 달려가서 그를 맞아 이르기를 너는 평안하냐 네 남편이 평안하냐 아이가 평안하냐 하라 하였더니 여인이 대답하되 평안하다 하고  

27 산에 이르러 하나님의 사람에게 나아가서 그 발을 안은지라 게하시가 가까이 와서 그를 물리치고자 하매 하나님의 사람이 이르되 가만 두라 그의 영혼이 괴로워하지마는 여호와께서 내게 숨기시고 이르지 아니하셨도다 하니라  

28 여인이 이르되 내가 내 주께 아들을 구하더이까 나를 속이지 말라고 내가 말하지 아니하더이까 하니  

29 엘리사가 게하시에게 이르되 네 허리를 묶고 내 지팡이를 손에 들고 가라 사람을 만나거든 인사하지 말며 사람이 네게 인사할지라도 대답하지 말고 내 지팡이를 그 아이 얼굴에 놓으라 하는지라  

30 아이의 어머니가 이르되 여호와께서 살아 계심과 당신의 영혼이 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니 내가 당신을 떠나지 아니하리이다 엘리사가 이에 일어나 여인을 따라가니라  

31 게하시가 그들보다 앞서 가서 지팡이를 그 아이의 얼굴에 놓았으나 소리도 없고 듣지도 아니하는지라 돌아와서 엘리사를 맞아 그에게 말하여 아이가 깨지 아니하였나이다 하니라  

32 엘리사가 집에 들어가 보니 아이가 죽었는데 자기의 침상에 눕혔는지라  

33 들어가서는 문을 닫으니 두 사람 뿐이라 엘리사가 여호와께 기도하고  

34 아이 위에 올라 엎드려 자기 입을 그의 입에, 자기 눈을 그의 눈에, 자기 손을 그의 손에 대고 그의 몸에 엎드리니 아이의 살이 차차 따뜻하더라  

35 엘리사가 내려서 집 안에서 한 번 이리 저리 다니고 다시 아이 위에 올라 엎드리니 아이가 일곱 번 재채기 하고 눈을 뜨는지라  

36 엘리사가 게하시를 불러 저 수넴 여인을 불러오라 하니 곧 부르매 여인이 들어가니 엘리사가 이르되 네 아들을 데리고 가라 하니라  

37 여인이 들어가서 엘리사의 발 앞에서 땅에 엎드려 절하고 아들을 안고 나가니라  

4:16 "About this time next year," Elisha said, "you will hold a son in your arms." "No, my lord," she objected. "Don't mislead your servant, O man of God!"

4:17 But the woman became pregnant, and the next year about that same time she gave birth to a son, just as Elisha had told her.

4:18 The child grew, and one day he went out to his father, who was with the reapers.

4:19 "My head! My head!" he said to his father. His father told a servant, "Carry him to his mother."

4:20 After the servant had lifted him up and carried him to his mother, the boy sat on her lap until noon, and then he died.

4:21 She went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, then shut the door and went out.

4:22 She called her husband and said, "Please send me one of the servants and a donkey so I can go to the man of God quickly and return."

4:23 "Why go to him today?" he asked. "It's not the New Moon or the Sabbath." "It's all right," she said.

4:24 She saddled the donkey and said to her servant, "Lead on; don't slow down for me unless I tell you."

4:25 So she set out and came to the man of God at Mount Carmel. When he saw her in the distance, the man of God said to his servant Gehazi, "Look! There's the Shunammite!

4:26 Run to meet her and ask her, 'Are you all right? Is your husband all right? Is your child all right?'" "Everything is all right," she said.

4:27 When she reached the man of God at the mountain, she took hold of his feet. Gehazi came over to push her away, but the man of God said, "Leave her alone! She is in bitter distress, but the LORD has hidden it from me and has not told me why."

4:28 "Did I ask you for a son, my lord?" she said. "Didn't I tell you, 'Don't raise my hopes'?"

4:29 Elisha said to Gehazi, "Tuck your cloak into your belt, take my staff in your hand and run. If you meet anyone, do not greet him, and if anyone greets you, do not answer. Lay my staff on the boy's face."

4:30 But the child's mother said, "As surely as the LORD lives and as you live, I will not leave you." So he got up and followed her.

4:31 Gehazi went on ahead and laid the staff on the boy's face, but there was no sound or response. So Gehazi went back to meet Elisha and told him, "The boy has not awakened."

4:32 When Elisha reached the house, there was the boy lying dead on his couch.

4:33 He went in, shut the door on the two of them and prayed to the LORD.

4:34 Then he got on the bed and lay upon the boy, mouth to mouth, eyes to eyes, hands to hands. As he stretched himself out upon him, the boy's body grew warm.

4:35 Elisha turned away and walked back and forth in the room and then got on the bed and stretched out upon him once more. The boy sneezed seven times and opened his eyes.

4:36 Elisha summoned Gehazi and said, "Call the Shunammite." And he did. When she came, he said, "Take your son."

4:37 She came in, fell at his feet and bowed to the ground. Then she took her son and went out.

행5:19~42

5:19 주의 사자가 밤에 옥문을 열고 끌어내어 이르되  

5:20 가서 성전에 서서 이 생명의 말씀을 다 백성에게 말하라 하매  

5:21 그들이 듣고 새벽에 성전에 들어가서 가르치더니 대제사장과 그와 함께 있는 사람들이 와서 공회와 이스라엘 족속의 원로들을 다 모으고 사람을 옥에 보내어 사도들을 잡아오라 하니  

5:22 부하들이 가서 옥에서 사도들을 보지 못하고 돌아와  

5:23 이르되 우리가 보니 옥은 든든하게 잠기고 지키는 사람들이 문에 서 있으되 문을 열고 본즉 그 안에는 한 사람도 없더이다 하니  

5:24 성전 맡은 자와 제사장들이 이 말을 듣고 의혹하여 이 일이 어찌 될까 하더니  

5:25 사람이 와서 알리되 보소서 옥에 가두었던 사람들이 성전에 서서 백성을 가르치더이다 하니  

5:26 성전 맡은 자가 부하들과 같이 가서 그들을 잡아왔으나 강제로 못함은 백성들이 돌로 칠까 두려워함이더라  

5:27 그들을 끌어다가 공회 앞에 세우니 대제사장이 물어  

5:28 이르되 우리가 이 이름으로 사람을 가르치지 말라고 엄금하였으되 너희가 너희 가르침을 예루살렘에 가득하게 하니 이 사람의 피를 우리에게로 돌리고자 함이로다  

5:29 베드로와 사도들이 대답하여 이르되 사람보다 하나님께 순종하는 것이 마땅하니라  

5:30 너희가 나무에 달아 죽인 예수를 우리 조상의 하나님이 살리시고  

5:31 이스라엘에게 회개함과 죄 사함을 주시려고 그를 오른손으로 높이사 임금과 구주로 삼으셨느니라  

5:32 우리는 이 일에 증인이요 하나님이 자기에게 순종하는 사람들에게 주신 성령도 그러하니라 하더라 

5:33 그들이 듣고 크게 노하여 사도들을 없이하고자 할새  

5:34 바리새인 가말리엘은 율법교사로 모든 백성에게 존경을 받는 자라 공회 중에 일어나 명하여 사도들을 잠깐 밖에 나가게 하고  

5:35 말하되 이스라엘 사람들아 너희가 이 사람들에게 대하여 어떻게 하려는지 조심하라  

5:36 이 전에 드다가 일어나 스스로 선전하매 사람이 약 사백 명이나 따르더니 그가 죽임을 당하매 따르던 모든 사람들이 흩어져 없어졌고  

5:37 그 후 호적할 때에 갈릴리의 유다가 일어나 백성을 꾀어 따르게 하다가 그도 망한즉 따르던 모든 사람들이 흩어졌느니라  

5:38 이제 내가 너희에게 말하노니 이 사람들을 상관하지 말고 버려 두라 이 사상과 이 소행이 사람으로부터 났으면 무너질 것이요  

5:39 만일 하나님께로부터 났으면 너희가 그들을 무너뜨릴 수 없겠고 도리어 하나님을 대적하는 자가 될까 하노라 하니  

5:40 그들이 옳게 여겨 사도들을 불러들여 채찍질하며 예수의 이름으로 말하는 것을 금하고 놓으니  

5:41 사도들은 그 이름을 위하여 능욕 받는 일에 합당한 자로 여기심을 기뻐하면서 공회 앞을 떠나니라  

5:42 그들이 날마다 성전에 있든지 집에 있든지 예수는 그리스도라고 가르치기와 전도하기를 그치지 아니하니라 

5:19 But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out.

5:20 "Go, stand in the temple courts," he said, "and tell the people the full message of this new life."

5:21 At daybreak they entered the temple courts, as they had been told, and began to teach the people. When the high priest and his associates arrived, they called together the Sanhedrin--the full assembly of the elders of Israel--and sent to the jail for the apostles.

5:22 But on arriving at the jail, the officers did not find them there. So they went back and reported,

5:23 "We found the jail securely locked, with the guards standing at the doors; but when we opened them, we found no one inside."

5:24 On hearing this report, the captain of the temple guard and the chief priests were puzzled, wondering what would come of this.

5:25 Then someone came and said, "Look! The men you put in jail are standing in the temple courts teaching the people."

5:26 At that, the captain went with his officers and brought the apostles. They did not use force, because they feared that the people would stone them.

5:27 Having brought the apostles, they made them appear before the Sanhedrin to be questioned by the high priest.

5:28 "We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name," he said. "Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man's blood."

5:29 Peter and the other apostles replied: "We must obey God rather than men!

5:30 The God of our fathers raised Jesus from the dead--whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree.

5:31 God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel.

5:32 We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him."

5:33 When they heard this, they were furious and wanted to put them to death.

5:34 But a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, who was honored by all the people, stood up in the Sanhedrin and ordered that the men be put outside for a little while.

5:35 Then he addressed them: "Men of Israel, consider carefully what you intend to do to these men.

5:36 Some time ago Theudas appeared, claiming to be somebody, and about four hundred men rallied to him. He was killed, all his followers were dispersed, and it all came to nothing.

5:37 After him, Judas the Galilean appeared in the days of the census and led a band of people in revolt. He too was killed, and all his followers were scattered.

5:38 Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail.

5:39 But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God."

5:40 His speech persuaded them. They called the apostles in and had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

5:41 The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.

5:42 Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.

2:14 베드로가 열한 사도와 함께 서서 소리를 높여 이르되 유대인들과 예루살렘에 사는 모든 사람들아 이 일을 너희로 알게 할 것이니 내 말에 귀를 기울이라  

2:15 때가 제 삼 시니 너희 생각과 같이 이 사람들이 취한 것이 아니라  

2:16 이는 곧 선지자 요엘을 통하여 말씀하신 것이니 일렀으되  

2:17 하나님이 말씀하시기를 말세에 내가 내 영을 모든 육체에 부어 주리니 너희의 자녀들은 예언할 것이요 너희의 젊은이들은 환상을 보고 너희의 늙은이들은 꿈을 꾸리라  

2:18 그 때에 내가 내 영을 내 남종과 여종들에게 부어 주리니 그들이 예언할 것이요  

2:19 또 내가 위로 하늘에서는 기사를 아래로 땅에서는 징조를 베풀리니 곧 피와 불과 연기로다  

2:20 주의 크고 영화로운 날이 이르기 전에 해가 변하여 어두워지고 달이 변하여 피가 되리라  

2:21 누구든지 주의 이름을 부르는 자는 구원을 받으리라 하였느니라  

2:22 이스라엘 사람들아 이 말을 들으라 너희도 아는 바와 같이 하나님께서 나사렛 예수로 큰 권능과 기사와 표적을 너희 가운데서 베푸사 너희 앞에서 그를 증언하셨느니라  

2:23 그가 하나님께서 정하신 뜻과 미리 아신 대로 내준 바 되었거늘 너희가 법 없는 자들의 손을 빌려 못 박아 죽였으나  

2:24 하나님께서 그를 사망의 고통에서 풀어 살리셨으니 이는 그가 사망에 매여 있을 수 없었음이라  

2:25 다윗이 그를 가리켜 이르되 내가 항상 내 앞에 계신 주를 뵈었음이여 나로 요동하지 않게 하기 위하여 그가 내 우편에 계시도다  

2:26 그러므로 내 마음이 기뻐하였고 내 혀도 즐거워하였으며 육체도 희망에 거하리니  

2:27 이는 내 영혼을 음부에 버리지 아니하시며 주의 거룩한 자로 썩음을 당하지 않게 하실 것임이로다  

2:28 주께서 생명의 길을 내게 보이셨으니 주 앞에서 내게 기쁨이 충만하게 하시리로다 하였으므로  

2:29 형제들아 내가 조상 다윗에 대하여 담대히 말할 수 있노니 다윗이 죽어 장사되어 그 묘가 오늘까지 우리 중에 있도다  

2:30 그는 선지자라 하나님이 이미 맹세하사 그 자손 중에서 한 사람을 그 위에 앉게 하리라 하심을 알고  

2:31 미리 본 고로 그리스도의 부활을 말하되 그가 음부에 버림이 되지 않고 그의 육신이 썩음을 당하지 아니하시리라 하더니  

2:32 이 예수를 하나님이 살리신지라 우리가 다 이 일에 증인이로다  

2:33 하나님이 오른손으로 예수를 높이시매 그가 약속하신 성령을 아버지께 받아서 너희가 보고 듣는 이것을 부어 주셨느니라  

2:34 다윗은 하늘에 올라가지 못하였으나 친히 말하여 이르되 주께서 내 주에게 말씀하시기를  

2:35 내가 네 원수로 네 발등상이 되게 하기까지 너는 내 우편에 앉아 있으라 하셨도다 하였으니  

2:36 그런즉 이스라엘 온 집은 확실히 알지니 너희가 십자가에 못 박은 이 예수를 하나님이 주와 그리스도가 되게 하셨느니라 하니라 

2:37 그들이 이 말을 듣고 마음에 찔려 베드로와 다른 사도들에게 물어 이르되 형제들아 우리가 어찌할꼬 하거늘  

2:38 베드로가 이르되 너희가 회개하여 각각 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 세례를 받고 죄 사함을 받으라 그리하면 성령의 선물을 받으리니  

2:39 이 약속은 너희와 너희 자녀와 모든 먼 데 사람 곧 주 우리 하나님이 얼마든지 부르시는 자들에게 하신 것이라 하고  

2:40 또 여러 말로 확증하며 권하여 이르되 너희가 이 패역한 세대에서 구원을 받으라 하니  

2:41 그 말을 받은 사람들은 세례를 받으매 이 날에 신도의 수가 삼천이나 더하더라  

2:42 그들이 사도의 가르침을 받아 서로 교제하고 떡을 떼며 오로지 기도하기를 힘쓰니라

2:14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: "Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.

2:15 These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It's only nine in the morning!

2:16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

2:17 "'In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.

2:18 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.

2:19 I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.

2:20 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.

2:21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'

2:22 "Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know.

2:23 This man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross.

2:24 But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.

2:25 David said about him: "'I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

2:26 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will live in hope,

2:27 because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay.

2:28 You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.'

2:29 "Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day.

2:30 But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne.

2:31 Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay.

2:32 God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact.

2:33 Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.

2:34 For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said, "'The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand

2:35 until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet."'

2:36 "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."

2:37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"

2:38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

2:39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off--for all whom the Lord our God will call."

2:40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation."

2:41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

21:18 이른 아침에 성으로 들어오실 때에 시장하신지라  

21:19 길 가에서 한 무화과나무를 보시고 그리로 가사 잎사귀 밖에 아무 것도 찾지 못하시고 나무에게 이르시되 이제부터 영원토록 네가 열매를 맺지 못하리라 하시니 무화과나무가 곧 마른지라  

21:20 제자들이 보고 이상히 여겨 이르되 무화과나무가 어찌하여 곧 말랐나이까  

21:21 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 만일 너희가 믿음이 있고 의심하지 아니하면 이 무화과나무에게 된 이런 일만 할 뿐 아니라 이 산더러 들려 바다에 던져지라 하여도 될 것이요  

21:22 너희가 기도할 때에 무엇이든지 믿고 구하는 것은 다 받으리라 하시니라 

21:23 예수께서 성전에 들어가 가르치실새 대제사장들과 백성의 장로들이 나아와 이르되 네가 무슨 권위로 이런 일을 하느냐 또 누가 이 권위를 주었느냐  

21:24 예수께서 대답하시되 나도 한 말을 너희에게 물으리니 너희가 대답하면 나도 무슨 권위로 이런 일을 하는지 이르리라  

21:25 요한의 세례가 어디로부터 왔느냐 하늘로부터냐 사람으로부터냐 그들이 서로 의논하여 이르되 만일 하늘로부터라 하면 어찌하여 그를 믿지 아니하였느냐 할 것이요  

21:26 만일 사람으로부터라 하면 모든 사람이 요한을 선지자로 여기니 백성이 무섭다 하여  

21:27 예수께 대답하여 이르되 우리가 알지 못하노라 하니 예수께서 이르시되 나도 무슨 권위로 이런 일을 하는지 너희에게 이르지 아니하리라  

21:28 그러나 너희 생각에는 어떠하냐 어떤 사람에게 두 아들이 있는데 맏아들에게 가서 이르되 얘 오늘 포도원에 가서 일하라 하니  

21:29 대답하여 이르되 아버지 가겠나이다 하더니 가지 아니하고  

21:30 둘째 아들에게 가서 또 그와 같이 말하니 대답하여 이르되 싫소이다 하였다가 그 후에 뉘우치고 갔으니  

21:31 그 둘 중의 누가 아버지의 뜻대로 하였느냐 이르되 둘째 아들이니이다 예수께서 그들에게 이르시되 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 세리들과 창녀들이 너희보다 먼저 하나님의 나라에 들어가리라  

21:32 요한이 의의 도로 너희에게 왔거늘 너희는 그를 믿지 아니하였으되 세리와 창녀는 믿었으며 너희는 이것을 보고도 끝내 뉘우쳐 믿지 아니하였도다

21:18 Early in the morning, as he was on his way back to the city, he was hungry.

21:19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, "May you never bear fruit again!" Immediately the tree withered.

21:20 When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. "How did the fig tree wither so quickly?" they asked.

21:21 Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done.

21:22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

21:23 Jesus entered the temple courts, and, while he was teaching, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him. "By what authority are you doing these things?" they asked. "And who gave you this authority?"

21:24 Jesus replied, "I will also ask you one question. If you answer me, I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things.

21:25 John's baptism--where did it come from? Was it from heaven, or from men?" They discussed it among themselves and said, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will ask, 'Then why didn't you believe him?'

21:26 But if we say, 'From men'--we are afraid of the people, for they all hold that John was a prophet."

21:27 So they answered Jesus, "We don't know." Then he said, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.

21:28 "What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, 'Son, go and work today in the vineyard.'

21:29 "'I will not,' he answered, but later he changed his mind and went.

21:30 "Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He answered, 'I will, sir,' but he did not go.

21:31 "Which of the two did what his father wanted?" "The first," they answered. Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.

21:32 For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.

17:1 여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하여 이르시되  

17:2 너는 이스라엘 자손에게 말하여 그들 중에서 각 조상의 가문을 따라 지팡이 하나씩을 취하되 곧 그들의 조상의 가문대로 그 모든 지휘관에게서 지팡이 열둘을 취하고 그 사람들의 이름을 각각 그 지팡이에 쓰되  

17:3 레위의 지팡이에는 아론의 이름을 쓰라 이는 그들의 조상의 가문의 각 수령이 지팡이 하나씩 있어야 할 것임이니라  

17:4 그 지팡이를 회막 안에서 내가 너희와 만나는 곳인 증거궤 앞에 두라  

17:5 내가 택한 자의 지팡이에는 싹이 나리니 이것으로 이스라엘 자손이 너희에게 대하여 원망하는 말을 내 앞에서 그치게 하리라  

17:6 모세가 이스라엘 자손에게 말하매 그들의 지휘관들이 각 지파대로 지팡이 하나씩을 그에게 주었으니 그 지팡이가 모두 열둘이라 그 중에 아론의 지팡이가 있었더라  

17:7 모세가 그 지팡이들을 증거의 장막 안 여호와 앞에 두었더라  

17:8 이튿날 모세가 증거의 장막에 들어가 본즉 레위 집을 위하여 낸 아론의 지팡이에 움이 돋고 순이 나고 꽃이 피어서 살구 열매가 열렸더라  

17:9 모세가 그 지팡이 전부를 여호와 앞에서 이스라엘 모든 자손에게로 가져오매 그들이 보고 각각 자기 지팡이를 집어들었더라  

17:10 여호와께서 또 모세에게 이르시되 아론의 지팡이는 증거궤 앞으로 도로 가져다가 거기 간직하여 반역한 자에 대한 표징이 되게 하여 그들로 내게 대한 원망을 그치고 죽지 않게 할지니라  

17:11 모세가 곧 그 같이 하되 여호와께서 자기에게 명령하신 대로 하였더라  

17:12 이스라엘 자손이 모세에게 말하여 이르되 보소서 우리는 죽게 되었나이다 망하게 되었나이다 다 망하게 되었나이다  

17:13 가까이 나아가는 자 곧 여호와의 성막에 가까이 나아가는 자마다 다 죽사오니 우리가 다 망하여야 하리이까 

17:1 The LORD said to Moses,

17:2 "Speak to the Israelites and get twelve staffs from them, one from the leader of each of their ancestral tribes. Write the name of each man on his staff.

17:3 On the staff of Levi write Aaron's name, for there must be one staff for the head of each ancestral tribe.

17:4 Place them in the Tent of Meeting in front of the Testimony, where I meet with you.

17:5 The staff belonging to the man I choose will sprout, and I will rid myself of this constant grumbling against you by the Israelites."

17:6 So Moses spoke to the Israelites, and their leaders gave him twelve staffs, one for the leader of each of their ancestral tribes, and Aaron's staff was among them.

17:7 Moses placed the staffs before the LORD in the Tent of the Testimony.

17:8 The next day Moses entered the Tent of the Testimony and saw that Aaron's staff, which represented the house of Levi, had not only sprouted but had budded, blossomed and produced almonds.

17:9 Then Moses brought out all the staffs from the LORD'S presence to all the Israelites. They looked at them, and each man took his own staff.

17:10 The LORD said to Moses, "Put back Aaron's staff in front of the Testimony, to be kept as a sign to the rebellious. This will put an end to their grumbling against me, so that they will not die."

17:11 Moses did just as the LORD commanded him.

17:12 The Israelites said to Moses, "We will die! We are lost, we are all lost!

17:13 Anyone who even comes near the tabernacle of the LORD will die. Are we all going to die?"

6:1 자녀들아 주 안에서 너희 부모에게 순종하라 이것이 옳으니라  

6:2 네 아버지와 어머니를 공경하라 이것은 약속이 있는 첫 계명이니  

6:3 이로써 네가 잘되고 땅에서 장수하리라  

6:4 또 아비들아 너희 자녀를 노엽게 하지 말고 오직 주의 교훈과 훈계로 양육하라  

6:5 종들아 두려워하고 떨며 성실한 마음으로 육체의 상전에게 순종하기를 그리스도께 하듯 하라  

6:6 눈가림만 하여 사람을 기쁘게 하는 자처럼 하지 말고 그리스도의 종들처럼 마음으로 하나님의 뜻을 행하고  

6:7 기쁜 마음으로 섬기기를 주께 하듯 하고 사람들에게 하듯 하지 말라  

6:8 이는 각 사람이 무슨 선을 행하든지 종이나 자유인이나 주께로부터 그대로 받을 줄을 앎이라  

6:9 상전들아 너희도 그들에게 이와 같이 하고 위협을 그치라 이는 그들과 너희의 상전이 하늘에 계시고 그에게는 사람을 외모로 취하는 일이 없는 줄 너희가 앎이라  

6:10 끝으로 너희가 주 안에서와 그 힘의 능력으로 강건하여지고  

6:11 마귀의 간계를 능히 대적하기 위하여 하나님의 전신 갑주를 입으라  

6:12 우리의 씨름은 혈과 육을 상대하는 것이 아니요 통치자들과 권세들과 이 어둠의 세상 주관자들과 하늘에 있는 악의 영들을 상대함이라  

6:13 그러므로 하나님의 전신 갑주를 취하라 이는 악한 날에 너희가 능히 대적하고 모든 일을 행한 후에 서기 위함이라  

6:14 그런즉 서서 진리로 너희 허리 띠를 띠고 의의 호심경을 붙이고  

6:15 평안의 복음이 준비한 것으로 신을 신고  

6:16 모든 것 위에 믿음의 방패를 가지고 이로써 능히 악한 자의 모든 불화살을 소멸하고  

6:17 구원의 투구와 성령의 검 곧 하나님의 말씀을 가지라  

6:18 모든 기도와 간구를 하되 항상 성령 안에서 기도하고 이를 위하여 깨어 구하기를 항상 힘쓰며 여러 성도를 위하여 구하라  

6:19 또 나를 위하여 구할 것은 내게 말씀을 주사 나로 입을 열어 복음의 비밀을 담대히 알리게 하옵소서 할 것이니  

6:20 이 일을 위하여 내가 쇠사슬에 매인 사신이 된 것은 나로 이 일에 당연히 할 말을 담대히 하게 하려 하심이라  

6:21 나의 사정 곧 내가 무엇을 하는지 너희에게도 알리려 하노니 사랑을 받은 형제요 주 안에서 진실한 일꾼인 두기고가 모든 일을 너희에게 알리리라  

6:22 우리 사정을 알리고 또 너희 마음을 위로하기 위하여 내가 특별히 그를 너희에게 보내었노라  

6:23 아버지 하나님과 주 예수 그리스도께로부터 평안과 믿음을 겸한 사랑이 형제들에게 있을지어다  

6:24 우리 주 예수 그리스도를 변함 없이 사랑하는 모든 자에게 은혜가 있을지어다 

6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

6:2 "Honor your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with a promise--

6:3 "that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."

6:4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

6:5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.

6:6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.

6:7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men,

6:8 because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free.

6:9 And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.

6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

6:11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

6:13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

6:14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,

6:15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

6:16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

6:17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

6:19 Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel,

6:20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

6:21 Tychicus, the dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you also may know how I am and what I am doing.

6:22 I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are, and that he may encourage you.

6:23 Peace to the brothers, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

6:24 Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love. 

1:1 우스 땅에 욥이라 불리는 사람이 있었는데 그 사람은 온전하고 정직하여 하나님을 경외하며 악에서 떠난 자더라  

1:2 그에게 아들 일곱과 딸 셋이 태어나니라  

1:3 그의 소유물은 양이 칠천 마리요 낙타가 삼천 마리요 소가 오백 겨리요 암나귀가 오백 마리이며 종도 많이 있었으니 이 사람은 동방 사람 중에 가장 훌륭한 자라  

1:4 그의 아들들이 자기 생일에 각각 자기의 집에서 잔치를 베풀고 그의 누이 세 명도 청하여 함께 먹고 마시더라  

1:5 그들이 차례대로 잔치를 끝내면 욥이 그들을 불러다가 성결하게 하되 아침에 일어나서 그들의 명수대로 번제를 드렸으니 이는 욥이 말하기를 혹시 내 아들들이 죄를 범하여 마음으로 하나님을 욕되게 하였을까 함이라 욥의 행위가 항상 이러하였더라  

1:6 하루는 하나님의 아들들이 와서 여호와 앞에 섰고 사탄도 그들 가운데에 온지라  

1:7 여호와께서 사탄에게 이르시되 네가 어디서 왔느냐 사탄이 여호와께 대답하여 이르되 땅을 두루 돌아 여기저기 다녀왔나이다  

1:8 여호와께서 사탄에게 이르시되 네가 내 종 욥을 주의하여 보았느냐 그와 같이 온전하고 정직하여 하나님을 경외하며 악에서 떠난 자는 세상에 없느니라  

1:9 사탄이 여호와께 대답하여 이르되 욥이 어찌 까닭 없이 하나님을 경외하리이까  

1:10 주께서 그와 그의 집과 그의 모든 소유물을 울타리로 두르심 때문이 아니니이까 주께서 그의 손으로 하는 바를 복되게 하사 그의 소유물이 땅에 넘치게 하셨음이니이다  

1:11 이제 주의 손을 펴서 그의 모든 소유물을 치소서 그리하시면 틀림없이 주를 향하여 욕하지 않겠나이까  

1:12 여호와께서 사탄에게 이르시되 내가 그의 소유물을 다 네 손에 맡기노라 다만 그의 몸에는 네 손을 대지 말지니라 사탄이 곧 여호와 앞에서 물러가니라  

1:13 하루는 욥의 자녀들이 그 맏아들의 집에서 음식을 먹으며 포도주를 마실 때에  

1:14 사환이 욥에게 와서 아뢰되 소는 밭을 갈고 나귀는 그 곁에서 풀을 먹는데  

1:15 스바 사람이 갑자기 이르러 그것들을 빼앗고 칼로 종들을 죽였나이다 나만 홀로 피하였으므로 주인께 아뢰러 왔나이다  

1:16 그가 아직 말하는 동안에 또 한 사람이 와서 아뢰되 하나님의 불이 하늘에서 떨어져서 양과 종들을 살라 버렸나이다 나만 홀로 피하였으므로 주인께 아뢰러 왔나이다  

1:17 그가 아직 말하는 동안에 또 한 사람이 와서 아뢰되 갈대아 사람이 세 무리를 지어 갑자기 낙타에게 달려들어 그것을 빼앗으며 칼로 종들을 죽였나이다 나만 홀로 피하였으므로 주인께 아뢰러 왔나이다  

1:18 그가 아직 말하는 동안에 또 한 사람이 와서 아뢰되 주인의 자녀들이 그들의 맏아들의 집에서 음식을 먹으며 포도주를 마시는데  

1:19 거친 들에서 큰 바람이 와서 집 네 모퉁이를 치매 그 청년들 위에 무너지므로 그들이 죽었나이다 나만 홀로 피하였으므로 주인께 아뢰러 왔나이다 한지라  

1:20 욥이 일어나 겉옷을 찢고 머리털을 밀고 땅에 엎드려 예배하며  

1:21 이르되 내가 모태에서 알몸으로 나왔사온즉 또한 알몸이 그리로 돌아가올지라 주신 이도 여호와시요 거두신 이도 여호와시오니 여호와의 이름이 찬송을 받으실지니이다 하고  

1:22 이 모든 일에 욥이 범죄하지 아니하고 하나님을 향하여 원망하지 아니하니라 

1:1 In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil.

1:2 He had seven sons and three daughters,

1:3 and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, and had a large number of servants. He was the greatest man among all the people of the East.

1:4 His sons used to take turns holding feasts in their homes, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.

1:5 When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would send and have them purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, "Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." This was Job's regular custom.

1:6 One day the angels came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them.

1:7 The LORD said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Satan answered the LORD, "From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it."

1:8 Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil."

1:9 "Does Job fear God for nothing?" Satan replied.

1:10 "Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land.

1:11 But stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face."

1:12 The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger." Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.

1:13 One day when Job's sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother's house,

1:14 a messenger came to Job and said, "The oxen were plowing and the donkeys were grazing nearby,

1:15 and the Sabeans attacked and carried them off. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!"

1:16 While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, "The fire of God fell from the sky and burned up the sheep and the servants, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!"

1:17 While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, "The Chaldeans formed three raiding parties and swept down on your camels and carried them off. They put the servants to the sword, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!"

1:18 While he was still speaking, yet another messenger came and said, "Your sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother's house,

1:19 when suddenly a mighty wind swept in from the desert and struck the four corners of the house. It collapsed on them and they are dead, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!"

1:20 At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship

1:21 and said: "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised."

1:22 In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.
